☀️Welcome to the Room 9 Blog!☀️
Our Week So Far...
This week we began looking at increasing and decreasing sequences in Math. We also looked at balancing equations as a precursor to algebra. We used an online resource to practice balancing our equations and we all thought it was lots of fun!
You can practice balancing equations at home with this online tool.
During our Physical Education block, we've continued to practice playing badminton. We've been doing our Phys. Ed. classes with Mrs. Jones' class as well and we've really loved working with the other Grade 5s.
In Science, we've begun a new final research project to wrap up our Weather Unit. We're looking at Climate Change and its effects for this project. Both Grade 5 classes are working together on this project and progress is coming along nicely.
Ask your child what they have learned so far from their research!
To celebrate Métis Week this year, we have been investigating Métis culture through five artifacts. These artifacts are the Métis Flag, the Red River Wagon, the Métis Scrip, the Fiddle, and the Sash.
Ask your child what they can tell you about each one!
Important Information
- We will be building our own Red River Wagons out of found materials at school tomorrow (Nov. 19th). Please have your child bring any recyclable materials you may have from home to school. We ask that you send no metal or glass objects. The size of the materials should be no bigger than a cereal box. Thank you!
- As the weather become colder, please ensure that you dress warmly. Gloves and hats are strongly encouraged!
- Our school librarian, Mrs. Armstrong, would like to remind you all that the Virtual Scholastic Book Fair will be running until November 22nd. If you would like to view the Book Fair, please clique the link above. All book sales help support our school library.
